![]() ![]() George edited the texts in a two-volume technical edition, which appeared just after the first printings of the translation, and is pretty much authoritative. If you want a translation, rather than a retelling, I would suggest The Epic of Gilgamesh, edited and translated by Andrew R. There are a bunch of these available on-line, and however good they were in their day, something from, say, 1920, now has mostly historical or curiosity value. ![]() Any translation or modern version much before, say, 1990, may be presumed to be obsolete. "Gilgamesh" is a rediscovery of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries - and missing pieces are still showing up. ![]()
